Why Armor the Home?
Let me start off by saying, I never thought I would start a blog. Ok actually, I started one when I was in college but never got it going. Mostly because I really loved the pen to paper style writing, so I never published it. Pen to paper will always be my first love of writing, however typing is much faster. So, here I am 18 years later because the Lord kept prompting me and I know He is wanting to release more.
A little back story for some of you who may not know me. As a little girl, I would always write. I had diaries upon diaries. Anyone else remember the diaries with the lock on it, only accessible with a key? Those were my favorite. It was a sacred place. I’m not sure what introduced me to writing then but looking back now I know it was an outlet and a way for me to process what was going on in my life. As I got older, these locked diaries then turned into journals. I continued to write everything, almost keeping a dialog of my life so that I could remember things. I’m not sure why I needed to, but I did.
I never thought these journals were significant only that over time my writing style has changed. Instead of writing about myself and the details of my life, I then wrote out dreams, prayers, prophetic words spoken over me, to now writing to God. My journaling as evolved over the years, because so have I. I write down things about my children, warfare we are facing, joys that fill our day, prayer requests and things He is speaking to me and so much more. I know He has called me to write and this time it’s not just the pen to paper.
As believers we wear the armor of God:
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.”
—Ephesians 6:11-13
Armor the Home, was birthed and inspired by Holy Spirit . He began to speak to me about the impact of home. As a stay at home mom I know most of us think what we are doing is not enough. Or as a working Mom you feel guilty for not being there enough. However, both of these are the biggest lie the devil deceives us with.
It was in the mundane of the everyday that the Lord met me and started to speak to me about what I was doing in the home was actually the most important work. With my husband, with our children, with the daily rhythms and bustle of life. Then the spiritual warfare and battles coming at us, the Lord telling us not to be moved by what we would see. He was training us and it started on the floors of our home as training ground.
I believe home is where everything starts. It’s a place of safety, to speak life, to build character, to teach, to model, to serve, to grow, to allow Gods presence, and also to protect. It’s the most important work we can do is within the walls of our home. However, there is a battle against what is cultivated in homes. Because of what we are seeing in our world today and what is considered acceptable does not mean we have to allow in our homes. It is not a time to back down, but to rise up in this hour. Our future generations depend on it. We must armor up and armor our homes. What do I mean by armor the home? We must protect and guard what God is birthing in homes, in the family, in marriages, in the fathers and mothers and in the children.
I pray this is a place you feel at home and it ministers to you and your family. Know you are not alone but the Lord is raising up an army who want to make an impact right where you are, in your homes.
Thank you for being here. —Jess
