The Next Generation
I’ve heard it said more times than I can count, maybe you have too.
It’s the lie that children are a hindrance and doomed especially with the world they are growing up in. I’ve received many comments about how they feel sorry for parents trying to raise children today. As a parent it can seem so daunting and leave you feeling utterly discouraged and hopeless. One woman I remember in line ahead of me at the grocery store shared they were questioning to have another child to add to their family. I asked her why, and she shared because of the state of the world, they were probably not going to. I know she isn’t the first one to think this. Many are questioning having another child or starting a family because of the times we are living in. While I understand this logic, especially if we are fixing our eyes on the world. I also want to share that this is not kingdom minded. You see, the Kingdom is usually backwards to the world. It’s doing what He says regardless of the times or seasons. It’s building a boat when there’s no rain. It’s using five loaves of bread and two fish to feed thousands. Doesn’t make sense in our minds, but that’s what happens when you are partnering with God sometimes.
I know it looks dark out there. I used to feel this overwhelming doubt and question the truth if we are capable of raising our children in this world.
Can I tell you something? It’s a lie. I am crushing it right now because the enemy wants to have us fooled. We are more than capable. It’s starts in the home. Not at church, not at school, not at camp, not on their sports team. It starts by reading and living the word in and out of our home. It starts by daily discipline and modeling.
The enemy is going harder for the younger generation because of what’s on this generation. In the darkest of times we have the opportunity to shine the brightest and the enemy knows this.
Our kids are watching our relationship with Jesus and discernment to learn from. What we steward in our homes will be there example.
Parents, this is not the time to be afraid. In fact, this is the time to stand firm and arise!! We were born for such a time as this and so are our children!
While the enemy has an agenda we see being pushed. We get to say, “not on our watch”. We are raising the next generation who think in the way of the Kingdom. Who will pray, worship, intercede, prophesy, and lay hands on the sick and do greater things.
So no, our children are not doomed. Our children are not a hindrance. They are the next generation who will be equipped to slay giants and we need them. They are a blessing. We will train them for the battle that’s here and that’s ahead. It starts at home.
Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. —Proverbs 22:6
